The Lamoille Valley Mentoring Partnership (LVMP) was formed by People In Partnership in 2001 to help provide young people with caring and supportive relationships by increasing the number of mentoring matches in our area. In Fall 2008 Lamoille County Court Diversion Restorative Justice Program assumed oversight of LVMP. LVMP brings together existing mentoring programs and supports the development of new sites. LVMP receives funding from foundations and state funds to support the efforts of our partnership. We add value to mentoring in the Lamoille Valley through efforts at recruitment, marketing, training, networking and information dissemination, and are working to create a culture of mentoring in our service area. Our vision is that every young person who wants a mentor has one and that every adult who wants to be a mentor can be. We are working to increase mentor matches.
The mission of LVMP and its partner mentoring site programs is to provide positive role models who will support and nurture young persons’ social development, personal growth, and in turn, academic success. Mentors guide youth toward positive choices through one-on-one sustained relationships.
The programs encompassed by LVMP include young people up to age 18 in the following schools and community agencies:
- Lamoille North Supervisory Union Schools: Eden Central School, Hyde Park Elementary, Cambridge Elementary, Waterville Elementary, and Lamoille Union Middle & High School.
- Lamoille South Supervisory Union Schools: Peoples Academy Middle & High School, Stowe Elementary/Middle School/High School.
- Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union: Wolcott Elementary, Hardwick Elementary, Craftsbury Academy, and Hazen Union Middle & High School.
